Since the Middle Ages, nobility and royalty have used jewelry with precious stones as a symbol of power and status. It wasn’t just about beauty; these pieces reflected wealth and prestige. Engagement rings with diamonds, for example, became popular in 1477 when Archduke Maximilian of Austria gave a diamond ring to Mary of Burgundy.

But the real boom in rings with massive rocks came in 1947 when the company De Beers launched the famous campaign "A diamond is forever." They sold the idea that eternal love had to be sealed with a diamond and that a man should spend at least three months’ salary on the ring. It was a brilliant marketing move that made big rocks and diamonds the gold standard for engagement rings.

And that’s how we got here.
